In my home there is a lot of foot traffic going on from people of all ages from children to us grown adults and that's why I wanted to find a better way of cleaning my floors – I decided to go with steam mops as a way to do that. First time I had heard about them was some time ago so I had always had on my “to get” list of tools. As you can imagine when I first got my first experience owning steam mops that had the reputation to clean and disinfect much better and easier than the old mop and bucket could do.
So my first experience with the whole steam mops was when I ordered one online and when it hit my door I naturally had to give it a try that instant. I began by unboxing it and first started to read through the instructions. Once I learned how to use it properly and had accurately assembled the unit I powered it up. It didn't take long for it to power up and as soon as it was ready for use – I know I was going to enjoy using steam mops. I prepped a small area of my kitchen by just sweeping up any large debris from the area and then ran my units mop head over the dirty area. It was cleaned very deeply and I was pretty happy with the results.
There was no type of wet spots or puddles as I had initially feared would happen with steam mops, but luckily there were none. The floors dried very quickly because it's not like using traditional mops and water – you are using steam so the amount of moisture is very little. Also, because it is heat, the bacteria on the surfaces are sure to be cleared and killed quickly as well. All that without the use of hard chemical solvents or bleaches.
One of the things I worried about though was how the steam mop would perform on spots that were a bit more “caked” on or dried up a bit. Would steam mops get the spot out or would it just under perform and disappoint me? I knew where I could a spot like that which occasionally occur near the trash bin in our kitchen so I saw what appeared to be a spot of spaghetti sauce and figured that that would be a good way to see if the power of steam would really get out those stuck on spots. In this case I held the mop head over the spot for just a few short seconds while pressing the “steam” button located under my thumb while mopping back and forth. In just those few short seconds the caked and dried spot of spaghetti sauce was up and gone. That's great to know that it also handles tougher messes as well.
One of the things I also like about steam mops is that if you are someone who has suffered from allergies then having a unit in your home is going to benefit you greatly. There are no special cleaners or solutions that you need to mix or add to the unit, all you'll use is electricity to create the steam which will clean and disinfect the flooring surfaces in your home.
