Vose and Son’s Piano
Serial number 36424
Built: March 14, 1896.

In the 1920’s and early 1930’s Hoagy Carmichael owned this Piano. In 1928, he published Star Dust, written on this Piano.
He gave this Piano to Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer in the mid 1930’s.
In 1943-44 this Piano was used in the movie ‘Meet Me in St. Louis’, with Judy Garland. It was in the parlor (it was in its original black color then).

In 1955 this Piano was given to The American Legion Post 46 in Culver City, CA. My father purchased this Piano from them and spray-painted the white ‘dot’s and spots’ over the original flat black. The three panels were removed and the glass installed with an inside light. I painted over the white ‘dot’s and spots’ in the 1980’s to the color it is now. The three original panels are included if you want to remove the glass.

Piano is 111 years old, in great condition, holds a perfect tune, complete with bench. This Piano has always been in great condition for the fifty years it has been in my family, I expect this Piano to still be in great condition 100 years from now. I am located in San Diego Ca, cash only; you must pay for moving the Piano. When you see this Piano you will understand the timeless quality of a great Piano.
