In the tradition of all legendary Krell digital playback systems - like the KPS-20i or KPS-25sc - the Evolution 525a is Krell's current top-of-the-line reference CD player. The slot-loaded disc-clamping transport mechanism provides a stable platform for the dual differential 24-bit DAC, one for each channel, feeding Krell's class A analog output stages with CAST connection in addition to the standard RCA and XLR outputs. Sophisticated multi-stage filtered power supply provides separate power to each individual section of the playback process.

The EV525a far exceeds the EV505 that it replaced. The SACD hype is over. I get EV505 trade in for the new EV525a all the time. Unlike the EV525av (with video playback capability), the EV525a is a purist audiophile reference CD player for those of us who still much prefer traditional 2-channel high-end audio systems. It is better than even the new Cipher. No reason for us to lie. I also have the Cipher on display.
