Description
Library Associates seeks an experienced Library Technician in for a part-time, long-term temporary position, with the possibility of subsequent hire by the client organization, located in Downtown Los Angeles. The technician will be working in a medical library so previous experience in this environment is a plus. This part-time position calls for a mid- to senior level technician who will report to the Director of Education for a twenty hour work week.
Responsibilities
Performs basic library maintenance
Conducts needs assessments
Delivery and training of library systems
Perform reference requests, document delivery, and literature searches
Some library management tasks, promoting the library, supervising volunteers, etc.
Compile and contribute to interdepartmental weekly newsletter
Qualifications
Library experience, preferably in a medical or hospital library;
Experience with document delivery systems, such as Docline or Ariel;
Experience with literature databases, such as MD Consult, EBSCOhost, etc.
Knowledge of publishing practices and acquisitions procedures;
Strong customer service focus and good interpersonal skills;
Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks in response to varying time pressures;
Good verbal and written communication skills;
Solid computer skills (Word, Excel, Internet searching);
Coursework in library science highly desirable;
