Sucupira Decking is used for the customer who would like a chocolate color deck. ABSWood carries Sucupira 1x6 decking. Sucupira Decking can be used alone or with Ipe or other complementary woods.
Sucupira Decking like all our decking originates from Brazil. It is common for the Sucupira tree to reach to l 30 ft in height with trunk diameters of 2.5 to 3 ft. Heartwood is rated resistant to very resistant to attack by decay fungi and termites. The product is resistant to water. Natural Finisher works best to bring out color and longevity. This Sucupira wood is reported to be easy to season with little tendency to warp or check.
Sucupira Decking offers a 25+ year lifespan without preservatives! Our Sucupira decking is responsibly harvested from managed forest to provide a truly renewable resource. Sucupira Decking is comparable to Ipe and is available at a fraction of the cost.
Sucupira Decking Characteristics : Sucupira is a heavy, strong, durable wood. With interlocked, sometimes irregular grain and moderately coarse texture, this wood is very resistant to decay and highly resistant to fungi and termite attacks.
Sucupira Color : Chocolate Brown - Several of our contractors call it "Chocolate Cumaru." As with all hardwood, there will be variations in color and grain which add to the individual character.
Sucupira Hardness: Janka hardness: 1980 lb – harder than Hard Maple (Janka 1450) and Oak (Janka 1360)
Sucupira Decking Durability: Sucupira Decking is durable to termites and fungus. Sucupira hardness provides natural scratch resistance making Sucupira an perfect wood for exterior decking.
Sucupira Decking Preservation: None Necessary! Will turn to a gray brown with age. A finisher with UV blocking will retain the beautiful chocolate color.
