This multi-billion dollar project will plan, design and construct an 800 mile high-speed rail passenger service, which will run from Sacramento in the North and San Diego in the South, with major interchange hubs in between, including San Francisco and Los Angeles. This will be the first, true high-speed rail project in America, with trains operating at up to 220 mph.We have an immediate opportunity for a Lead Estimator to work on CHSTP in Sacramento, reporting directly to the Program Operations Manager. Duties* Assist the Estimating Manager with systems estimating, railroad and associated transit estimating, quantity take-off preparation, labor pricing, creating conceptual and detailed estimates.* Secure quotes for material and service pricing.* Interface with scheduling and risk management specialists on the project as required.* Analyze estimates prepared by others based on completeness of design and quality of estimate information, make recommendations for appropriate contingencies, prepare reconciliations of progress and engineer’s estimates and bids.* Obtain additional data from a range of sources, reviewing designs and specifications for cost effectiveness, and suggesting alternatives as appropriate.Job Requirements* Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Engineering or Construction Management. Cost estimating certification by ASPE or AACEI is desirable.* At least 15 years experience in positions of increasing responsibility in estimating within large civil and transit projects.* Good familiarity with Timberline, HCSS, Primavera project management tool suite and Microsoft Office software.* Must be an effective communicator, both orally and in writing, with all program management teams levels including the CHSRA and Regional Consultants.* Ability to work in the US immediately.
