Position Summary:
The primary role of the Social Media & Internet Specialist is to assist in planning and fully implement Day-Timer social media strategy by launching, growing, and maintaining all of our current and planned online efforts. Be the eyes and ears of our brand to capture, analyze and understand customer initiated conversations and advice appropriate marketing, sales and contact center teams as needed. In addition assist with marketing initiatives such as competitive analysis, analyzing new market trends, customer needs assessment, etc.
Position Qualifications:
Principal Activities:
Develop Content (45%)
• work under the guidance of brand spokesperson to craft and publish written blog posts (written in engaging, accurate, search-engine friendly manner), as well as short videos and new product images as influenced by the editorial schedule (generated Marketing and “Industry Expert” direction
* Respond to direction from “Industry Expert” to Locate 3rdparty content and repopulate on our site when consistent with brand mission
• Serve as customer-service function in communities, responding to questions and comments, or escalating to appropriate departments for further assistance
• Maintain Day-Timer’s superior reputation and image through ongoing dialogue with consumers using text, photography and video as required.
• Press release development and distribution
• Review content with Marketing and/or Spokesperson to ensure integration with brand messaging
Monitor and Report (30%)
• Monitor competitor activity in social media and monthly prepare and present competitive analyses to marketing teams. Recommend changes to our editorial strategy.
* Identify and monitor relevant and influential blogs; and when appropriate, respond on behalf of the company or utilize Day-Timer Spokesperson and/or Day-Timer experts.
• Research, examine, and evaluate new blogs, groups, social media sites, tools and applications
• Establish automated blog monitors in Google and Twitter to watch and report chatter occurring on social networking sites.
* Maintain “posting” schedules and report status to appropriate teams
Assist in Social Media Planning Processes (15%)
• Utilize industry research to monitor trends in social media
• Support Day-Timer Spokesperson with other initiatives as required
• Assisting in the development of social media marketing plans
• Social media campaign/content development and production
Site Administration (10%)
• Set up social media accounts, including content writing, images, profiles, applications, linking, etc.
• Daily maintenance of social media accounts and budgets (if any)
• Monthly reporting of social media accounts
* Ensure connectivity to appropriate reporting tools/packages to determine impact of social media on sales.
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of 1 - 2 years in a marketing setting
* Degree in journalism, videography, public relations, marketing communications or related field
* Strong understanding of voice, tone and brand presence, including the ability to translate it into writing, short form (under 1 minute) video
* Web-based writing skills recognizing consumer expectations for impact, content and length
* Well-versed in setting up and using online communications and social media tools including facebook, LinkedIn and/or forums and blogs
* Ability to produce quality work while meeting all deadlines; ability to prioritize and communicates deadline tradeoffs when necessary
* Superior understanding and application of grammar, spelling, punctuation, and syntax
* Superior marketing analysis and trending skillsProficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Quark
