Job Description Imagine yourself working at the Aurora BayCare Medical Center, in the East Side Surgery Center, as a Registered Nurse where you are responsible for performing the nursing process to deliver safe, therapeutic, and quality care. This includes the assessment of patients; establishment and implementation of the nursing care plan; and evaluation of clinical outcomes within an inpatient environment. Consistently makes sound clinical decisions and demonstrates the ability to care for patients with complex problems.
Direct patient care duties includes, but not necessarily limited to: pre-op admission process, recovery of post-operative patients and discharge assessment & teaching of post-operative patients. Also will include administration of moderate sedation for pain management patients.

Providing ongoing patient centered nursing care. Completing initial assessment of patient including obtaining vital signs and gathering pertinent health information while following decision trees and protocols.
Providing triage and consultation to patient, family, and/or significant others according to protocol and established guidelines.
Initiating and implementing a nursing plan of care individualized to the needs of each patient. Assessing patient/family readiness for participation and involving them in planning and implementing care. Seeking consultation as needed.
Recognizing significant changes in patient\'s condition, status and need for care. Providing ongoing assessment of patient and taking appropriate nursing actions when changes occur. Evaluating and implementing changes of the plan of care as needed and collaborating with other health care team members to coordinate patient centered care.
Communicating with physicians and other members of the health care team. Providing patient status updates to physicians on a regular basis. Documenting, maintaining and updating accurate patient records according to agency, state, and federal guidelines.
General Qualifications Current Registered Nurse (RN) license granted by the State of Wisconsin.
Graduate of an accredited diploma or associate\'s degree in nursing program.
Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification granted by the American Heart Association or current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers certification granted by the American Heart Association.
Proficient computer skills including keyboarding, navigation within a windows operating system, use of electronic mail and electronic medical records systems.
Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
Ability to develop rapport and maintain positive, professional relationships with a variety of patients, staff and physicians.
Demonstrated ability to effectively make critical, independent decisions.
Good organization, prioritization and problem solving skills.
Ability to multi-task with frequent interruptions.
Desired Qualifications BSN preferred; experience in perianesthesia &/or pain management nursing desired. ACLS certification; PALS certification required within 1 year of hire.
